The Introdue of Crown Whel Gear
Working principle: A single stage reducer is an active bevel gear (commonly known as an angle gear), which is connected to the transmission shaft through the crown wheel. The drive bevel gear rotates clockwise, and the crown wheel is attached to its right side. The meshing point rotates downwards, consistent with the direction of the wheel's forward movement. Due to the small diameter of the driving bevel gear and the large diameter of the crown wheel teeth, the function of deceleration is achieved.
The two-stage reducer has an additional intermediate transition gear, and the left side of the driving cone gear meshes with the bevel gear of the intermediate gear. The crown wheel has a small diameter spur gear on the same axis, which meshes with the driven gear. In this way, the intermediate gear rotates backward and the driven gear rotates forward. There are two stages of deceleration in the middle.
Dual stage deceleration, due to its increased axle volume, was mainly used in matching vehicles with low engine power in the past, mainly for low-speed and high torque engineering machinery.
In a two-stage final drive, if the second stage of reduction is carried out near the wheels and actually constitutes independent components at the two wheels, it is called a wheel side reducer. The advantage of doing so is that it can reduce the torque transmitted by the half shaft, which is beneficial for reducing the size and mass of the half shaft. The wheel reducer can be a planetary gear type or composed of a pair of cylindrical gear pairs. When using cylindrical gear pairs for wheel edge reduction, the upper and lower position relationship between the wheel axis and the half axis can be changed by adjusting the mutual position of the two gears. This type of axle is called a gantry axle and is commonly used in cars with special requirements for the height of the axle.
According to the gear ratio of the main reducer, it can be divided into two types: single speed and double speed. Most domestic cars use single speed final drives with fixed transmission ratios. On the dual speed final drive, there are two transmission ratios to choose from, and this final drive actually acts as a secondary transmission.
